There's more to your home than you can imagine
Intenos IoT vision is based on the fact that everything in the connected home should be integrated and accessible from different devices, from anywhere, at any time. The iopsys SW suite was designed to enable the creation of applications that can be downloaded and installed in the in-home residential gateway, which in turn connects to the cloud for secure access from anywhere at any time.
Broadband operators and service providers are enabling and extending their delivery beyond triple play. Internet of Things services like home automation, surveillance, care and over-the-top media services are foreseen to grow by almost 50% by the end of 2018. In addition media consumption is growing rapidly, now mostly consumed via various WiFi enabled devices. This transformation within in-home communication will signify the need for a robust and innovative service- and content delivery platform.
Realizing this, Inteno has developed the iopsys platform (Inteno Open Platform System). iopsys is a complete service- and content delivery platform consisting of a Gateway Operating System, Home Portal and a multitude of software development kits, quickly enabling third party developers and service providers to innovate.
iopsys provides the first truly open source gateway software suited for the operator market. It supports all features required by high-end business critical Gateway software. To improve the ease of field upgrades and service deployment, the Iopsys operating system includes a packet- and communication engine that provides modular installation/removal of native programs and application bundles. The iopsys SDK will enable both the third party developers to develop functions and applications that may be downloaded and installed in the OS. Iopsys OS is an ideal platform for IoT development due to its modularity, vast network connectivity and remote management functions.
All software packages and final software are built on the OpenWrt software development platform. This includes all development utilities as well as a cross-compile tool chain.
The packet- and communication engine is used to enable modular installation without service interruption of software and applications.
The ICE-client based on XMPP is used to connect the gateway with the cloud via encrypted tunnels.
The ICE-client (iopsys communication engine) is a native application that can be integrated into any device that should be cloud connected. Typical devices are Gateways, Smart Phones, Tablets and Web Cameras but it could be just about anything that should be part of “The Internet of Things”. All ICE enabled devices connect to a cloud based XMPP infrastructure using an encrypted TCP tunnel. A Smart Phone running a Home Control application including the client can now communicate to the gateway using the XMPP cloud infrastructure from anywhere at any time through the encrypted TCP tunnel. The communication works behind any NAT and also provides for file transfers and proxy tunnel communication.
The ICE-client is an embedded client software that can be integrated into any device for connection to the cloud, enabling the ”Internet of Things”. It can be dynamically extended using plugins providing a non service interrupting installation of new applications.
Inteno facilitates for third-party developers to deploy software on iopsys. This includes software SDK’s and hardware support. The combination of a modular software stack, packet engine and remote configuration support will make it possible to deploy third party software on an open source gateway platform.
The iopsys SDK enables both the operator and third party developers to develop functions and applications that may be downloaded and installed on the operating system from the XMPP management platform.
The iopsys Cloud platform is a scalable server platform that includes a management server, helpdesk facilities and an application store. The platform is to be installed in the operator’s network. The management server handles the account administration and the communication with the iopsys communication engine residing in the registered devices. The home application store allows the customer to register new devices, install and manage new applications and device functions and to manage these remotely. With the Application Store enabled the customer has easy access to services beyond triple play.
THE MANAGEMENT SERVER
ensures the secure communication between iopsys smart phones apps, devices and portal web pages. Account management, application management and device software management are the key capabilities provided by the server.
interface enables operators to easily diagnose devices in the home, even when they are behind multiple NAT. All devices are listed in one dashboard overview. From here consolidated status information, historical monitoring information and real time access to the connected devices is directly available through the helpdesk web interface. Accurate diagnosics and real-time reconfigurations have never been easier.
THE HOME APPLICATION STORE
provides the application store to the end users. From here they can manage their gateway, download applications and handle customer driven upgrades. Applications developed using the SDKs can be easily installed and managed from the management interface.
Cloud storage is great, but not for all content. Large amounts of personal data like pictures and videos may not be ideal for uploading to just any external cloud service. FileMe let's you store and access your personal content safely from anywhere, just by plugging any storage device into your broadband gateway at home.
Direct access to your content from wherever you are.
Installing a camera and getting secured access to it from outside your home has never been easier. A click is all it takes to get remote access. HomeWatch supports many existing cameras, making it easier to pick and choose your favorite camera to suit your specific needs. Camera videostreams are enctypted and can be recorded directly on your smart phone.
Direct access to your camera feeds from wherever you are.
As the number of WiFi devices connected to your network increases you need an easy way to control and manage the network. See who and what is connected, speedtest, and provide guest access to your friends directly from the app.
Make the most of your WiFi network.
This app will help you optimize the performance of your WiFi network. It will show you where in your home you have weak wireless coverage. Based on this information, WIFI Max will even help you to configure range extenders, pairing them with your primary WiFi Gateway.
Optimize and expand your Wifi network.
We all recognize the feeling. "Did I forget to unplug the iron?" "Did I turn off the light when I left this morning?" "Is the upstairs window still open?" HomeControl will let you monitor and control your home from wherever you are. Design your own Smartphone control solution just by adding sensors and switches. Your iopsys enabled gateway and the HomeControl app will take care of the rest.

Perfect for parents who want to be able to control the amount of online hours for their young ones. Assign all the online devices to the different family members, and schedule their access hours in accordance with the house policies you have all agreed on.
Parental air-time management for young household members.
Utilizing an open service delivery platform such as iopsys, only imagination limits the kinds of applications that can be developed. Below are some examples of use cases that have been realized using iopsys. The use cases range from care and comfort to connectivity and entertainment.
"Did I forget to unplug the iron?" "Did I turn off the light when I left this morning?" "Is the upstairs window still open?" "Have the kids come home yet?" By enabling a home automation and surveillance application you can monitor and control your home from wherever you are. Design your own Smartphone solution just by adding sensors and switches.
Our change in media consumption make it important to have good WiFi covarage in all corners of our homes. With Iopsys enabled in the gateway easy pairing and managment of WiFi extenders is possible. Use existing or develop a new smart phone application helping the end-user to measure, pair and connect.
During various phases in life we may find the need for some extra care and safety. The modularity and network capabilities of the iopsys platform make it well suited for development of e-health applications. Social alarm buttons, encrypted nightly video surveillance as well as Bluetooth based medecine sensors can be handled and provisioned.
Wireless audio provides more freedom and enjoyment without the clutter and hassle of cables. But streaming high-quality audio is a challenge. A proof-of-concept project by Inteno, Dialog and Audio Pro shows how DECT is a solution, allowing Gateway makers and telecoms companies to offer an in-home audio streaming service. There are, of course, a number of possible wireless technologies, but DECT offers a good fit for the needs of wireless audio applications. For example, with a link budget of up to 120 dB and a typical indoor range of around 100 meters, DECT can easily cover the average house and garden.
We have no idea what it is but luckily using our SDK creativity is only limited by your imagination.
Bring your own applications to the iopsys gateway.
The major driving force for the development of the iopsys concept is our desire to open up the gateway to the vast community of great third party developers of software.
